Quasi-pulse (QCW) laser cleaning systems

ROD Q is a quasi-pulsed laser that operates between continuous and pulsed modes, delivering energy in longer bursts, typically in the microsecond to millisecond range. This type of laser is designed for applications requiring higher thermal energy and more aggressive cleaning.

  • Thermal Effects: Longer pulse duration results in deeper heat penetration into the material, resulting in a larger heat-affected zone and heating of the part being cleaned.
  • Material Interaction: QCW lasers have higher intensity due to the concentrated energy in long pulses, which can cause melting, thermal expansion and stress. These effects are useful for more aggressive cleaning, welding and surface modification.
  • Applications:
    • Remelting of metal surface: For steel, a thin surface layer can be remelted.
    • Removal of deep corrosion: Effective for removing deep corrosion.
    • Cleaning of stone or concrete: Suitable for removing paint and deposits from porous materials.
    • Surface preparation and roughening: Ideal for preparing surfaces prior to welding or painting.

Technical specifications:

The scanning head of the machine is suitable for manual and robotic applications and can be installed in industrial lines. The flexible optical fibre for guiding the laser beam enables truly mobile working and cleaning even in hard-to-reach places. The cleaning laser requires a standard 200-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz power supply, so it can be used virtually anywhere in the field. The machine is basically just a mobile cart with a storage compartment for the laser head, so you can easily transport it to wherever you need it.

The laser is controlled via an industrial PLC, which allows easy storage and recall of jobs. Optimal beam energy distribution on the surface is taken care of by our proprietary software, which has been tuned in many practical applications.

Power, beam shape and beam width can be changed, even while the laser is running.

The laser has integrated cooling, no additional cooling equipment is needed.
