Laser cleaning for the National Theatre

Although Narran s.r.o. mainly supplies laser machines to industrial companies (we install stand-alone stations, but we can also design a complete production line or integrate a new machine into the finished line), we also like to find solutions to unusual problems.

Watch a video sample from a recent laser cleaning of historical monuments in the centre of Prague. Cleaning masonry brings with it many challenges: often not only common soiling (dust, oxides) needs to be removed, but also graffiti or stuck-on gum. The mobile cleaning laser can be used to clean and restore the stone as well as to “erase” the remains of the sprayers’ rampage. The gum is partially vaporized and partially transformed into a brittle mass after the laser hit, which can be easily mechanically removed without unnecessary damage to the substrate. Laser cleaning of stone is also gentle (only a layer of dirt or paint is vaporized, the stone itself remains undamaged), the wall is not scratched, the procedure is completely dust-free and you do not even need a water supply as in the case of pressure cleaning with a “vapek”. Lasers will undoubtedly be a common restoration tool in the near future!
