Cutting metal foils on small plotter machines

Although fibre lasers are used for working with metals, we are seeing an increasing demand for CO2 equipment for cutting thin metal foils. We have therefore started to test cutting foils on our Thunder Laser plotters.

For the testing, we equipped the machine with a Synrad laser oscillator and optimized the optics and air supply settings. We performed the test on 400 µm thick stainless steel film. The results are best illustrated by photos from the final analysis. After the successful test we are going to check the cutting capabilities of aluminium and anodized foils.
